Triton Rushes Past Lee County 37-34

The Triton Hawks rushed for 353 yards and 5 TDs and outlasted Lee County 37-34 in Carolina Pines 6A Conference action Friday night in Erwin.   Triton used 167 yards from fullback Jamarcus Shaw to sustain several long time-consuming drives to take an early 14-0 lead and went on to improve to 4-0, 1-0.  Lee County twice battled back from two score deficits, and in the end, a 22-yard field goal by Triton kicker Jared Lopez proved to be the difference.

Lee County, down 14-0 to start the 2^nd quarter, used a 28-yard run by Zach Williams and a 68-yard reception by Jamir Butler to knot the score at 14 apiece going into the half.  Triton would go ahead 27-14 and Lee County would score 3 times in the 4^th to make it close.  Lee QB Reed Douglas was 23 of 38 for 345 yards and 3 TDs to lead the Yellow Jacket offense while Jaysiyah Collins hauled in 10 catches on the night.

Lee County remains winless on the season and will travel to West Johnston next Friday night in Benson.
